"Back in the Day," a visit to scenic Harveys Lake was just the ticket for folks in the nearby Wilkes-Barre, PA area. To get to Harveys Lake, many people rode the old trolley line to the Sunset area of the lake, which had many amenities - an elegant hotel (Teddy Roosevelt stayed there). Departure points for the grand paddle-wheel boats which would carry them across the lake to the amusement park, known locally as the "picninc grounds."
The cache is a standard ammo box, filled to the brim with swag, including a few items of the traveling nature - two geocoins, a travelling zebra and jeep. I've been a little remiss about how long I've had the jeep in my inventory. There is no particular theme to the contents, but it's a pretty good haul. The hide is trail-side, so there's no need to bushwhack off the trail. While there are areas with No Tresspassing signs on one side of the trail or the other, the old right-of-way is fair game.
The trolly no longer exists, but the old abandoned right-of-way has evolved into a wonderful three-mile loop trail.
