Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed in a picturesque park which is part of the Cobbler Creek Recreation Area. A great spot for bike riding or walking the dog or kids and has a playground and picnic table a short stroll away. There's also a few bits and pieces of an old farm to look at and reminisce of days gone by.

History of TTG & the N/E #4. This cache is placed on the site of the old Carter homestead and farm. Jane and Thomas Carter arrived in Australia from Great Britain and bought this land for 82 pounds in 1847. At the time they had 5 children. By the time Thomas tragically died, about 15 years later, in a buggy accident, Jane had given birth to 10 children. The farm was passed onto his eldest son, Thomas II, with Jane remaining on the farm until her death in 1890. The farm passed through several hands after the Carter family, including the Tilley family. It is now community land with the homestead all but ruins. If you were to have a quick wander around will also find old farm machinery, parts of the old fence, the old pump, a windmill and well and parcels of the original garden including fruit trees.
