PLEASE NOTE! The Bureau of Forestry suggests these
directions to avoid disturbing the protected rattlesnake population
in the Forestry Service land:
"Begin at the gate at the west end of Pinnacle Trail, off the
main state forest access road to the fire tower about 1/2 mile
before the tower on the right (east)"
The Weiser Trail starts from a State Forest Road that climbs
further up Blue Mountain to the Port Clinton Fire Tower and a
parking area for SGL 106. The trail, which is about 2.3 miles long,
connects to a Game Lands road and the Appalachian Trail in the AT
section between the Pinnacle and Eckville.
You can park in the vicinity of N40 35.935 / W076 00.106. Be
sure not to block the road or the gate.
The cache is about 1.5 miles from the trailhead. To find the
cache, you'll have to bushwack off the trail. The container is an
olive-green ammo box with a geocache sticker on one side.
This cache hunt is suitable for mountain biking. In fact, an
11-mile ride incorporating the Weiser Trail is included in Bob
D'Antonio's book,
Mountain Bike America: Greater Philadelphia.
