This paddle caching Geo-Art series consists of 60 caches located on the Waller Mill Park Reservoir. Caches #1 thru #30 are located on the lower portion of the reservoir. Caches #31 thru 60 are located on the upper portion of the reservoir. Both sections are connected by a tunnel that runs under Airport Road.
Caching the series in numerical order will result in a total route of 14 miles (7.5 miles on the lower reservoir and 6.5 miles on the upper reservoir). The boat ramp & parking is located in the middle of the two sections.
Containers in the series are identical and have been designed and placed for the long-haul: brown, textured bison tubes with "Rite in the Rain" logs located in small plastic inner vials. Viton o-rings and stainless-steel leader wires have been used to prevent UV degradation. Plan to bring a small screwdriver or tweezers to assist in accessing the logs, in addition to your own pen.
The following are NOT permitted in the reservoir:
- Swimming
- Gasoline motors
- Beaching of boats
- Inflatables & Stand-Up Paddle Boards (SUPs)
Park entrance fee is $2.00. Launch fee for personal canoes/kayaks is $2.00. Canoe & kayak rentals are available seasonally. Jon boats (as well as motors/batteries) are available year round.
For a park brochure providing information on the park's amenities and fees, please see the "related web page" link on the "WM✰PP #1" cache page. The page also contains parking, boat ramp, and park office coordinates in the "Additional Waypoints" section.
A big thank you to the friendly staff of Waller Mill Park and the City of Williamsburg for supporting geocaching on this beautiful reservoir!
