You can start from either trailhead, but either way you cut it, it's a serious challenge to get to the cache. Take plenty of water!
There are two trailheads (coords under Waypoints): Access by 4x4 up remote Forest Service Road (Miller Creek Road via North Fork Road via Grand Forks) to park at Xenia Lake Campground in Gladstone Provincial Park OR Access by boat (or extra hike in along Deer Point Trail) from Troy Creek Campground at the North end of Christina Lake.
The cache itself is placed only a few meters from the main trail at about the half-way point. 3.4 km and about 1000m elevation from the Christina trailhead. I hiked up from Christina Lake to, and around Xenia Lake and the subsequent Viewpoint Trail, and was back at the North end of Christina Lake by mid-afternoon (total for me 16km, but without all the extra, Christina to Xenia return would be ~12.5km). The trail is well marked with orange fire flashes and flagging tape, but please be prepared for back-country hiking and some very steep sections. The signs from the Provincial Park read: Recreational Trail – Use At Own Risk.
Pack it in – Pack it out! Cache In – Trash Out!
Be BEAR Aware!
You can see details about this trail at the following link: http://www.cltrails.info/xenia_lake.html If you're not quite up for this gruelling hike, you might want to check out some of the other trails in the area (get info at the helpful visitor information centre or download the maps at http://christinalake.ca/trail-maps/) - None have ever diappointed!
Happy Caching and Enjoy the Views!!!
UPDATE: Congrats to Granitic Intrusions and djash99&theDW (and their muggle friends) on the FTF of this challenging cache!
