Geocache Description:

The cache is a magnetic small plastic container, inside a double seal bag, behind the road barrier. Inside there is a declaration about geocaching, a pencil and the logbook. Reseal and hide it carefully exactly like you found it.

If you have ever been in Greece, you have propably noticed lots of roadside small shrines, shaped like small churches. Those are usually memorials for people that have died on the road, but thats not always the case.

Wikipedia refers to them as "Kandilakia" which is a term I haven't ever heard, but other than that the article is spot on. We usually call those "Ikonostasi" which loosely translates as "place for religious icons".

Anyway, on this specific spot there is a really big one, called "Proskinitarion", which loosely translates to praying place or house. It's dedicated to the memory of someone but it's not clear if that someone has died on this spot. For sure this place is not forgotten since we found some lit candles on our last visit.

There is a place to park, with beautiful view all around. Rest for a while, look at the beautiful mountains and the river down the cliff. Take a look at the "preyhouse" its interesting regardless if you are religious. Then venture forward into the mountains. Mihas and Tsapournia are really close, Vlasia and Kalavrita a little further away. Enjoy!
