As the year comes to an end, so does Walkersville’s birthday celebration AND this geotrail. Dec. 31 will be the last day to cache and turn in your answers to town hall.
Thanks to everyone who cached this trail and made our celebration a success!!
Welcome to Walkersville!
Our area is blessed with fertile soil and a relatively close proximity to the Monocacy River.
It was first home to the Native Indians and then ever growing numbers of European settlers that occupied this land from the 1700’s till present.
Walkersville was officially established in 1892 by mostly German settlers joining the small town of Georgetown from the north, with Walkersville from the south.
This town is named for John Walker (1768-1841) whose house still stands today. (“Walkers Overlook”)
We would ask that you please travel safely through our community and adjoining streets but most importantly you get to meet and greet our wonderful friends and families throughout our beloved town of Walkersville. MD.
Good Luck to All, and Happy Hunting!
Please only cache in the front part of this facility. We have permission to geocache even if there is an event going on, just be sure to park in the designated spots.
If you are using the geocaching app, you might be missing the first clue at ground zero.
