The Pacific Crest Trail goes from the Mexican border all the way to Canada and from Canada to Mexico amazingly enough. Through hikers cross Interstate 5 near the cache and access supply restocking opportunities at Castella and Dunsmuir. Southbound climbs up to the Cascade Range and Lassen National Park before entering the Sierra Nevada. Northbound climbs up past the Castle Crags and into the coastal mountains before entering Oregon.
Just a short jaunt off of the freeway leads to a small parking space at the trail head. RVs and trailers should park a bit closer to the freeway as the road becomes a bit narrow at the cache. Lots of tree cover may make coordinates a bit iffy, but the hiding spot should be obvious. No need to leave the trail at all to find this cache, but be sure to bring a pen, it is a log only.
