“La Pirámide” de Alicante
Ubicado en la avenida de Denia, a la entrada a Alicante por la Goteta, se encuentra esta obra del arquitecto Alfonso Navarro Guzmán, oficialmente llamado Edificio Montreal, terminado en 1981. Además de su controvertida imagen, de él resulta interesante la disposición de diferentes tipologías de vivienda, todas ellas sin patios y con ventilación cruzada, y la separación de itinerarios peatonales y rodados a distintos niveles.
Se compone de un edificio principal de 8 portales con 1 ó 2 ascensores por portal que dan servicio a un total de 180 viviendas y de 8 brazos perpendiculares a la parte "piramidal", de planta baja y una altura proyectadas en origen para albergar comercios y servicios, y que están agrupados de 2 en 2. Entre ellos hay 3 zonas ajardinadas por donde se accedía a los locales (hoy convertidos en viviendas) y a 1 planta alta, mientras que por la otra cara de cada "brazo" se accede a los garajes. En los laterales en pendiente de la "pirámide" están ubicados los pisos tipo dúplex.
"The Pyramid" of Alicante
Located on Denia Avenue, at the entrance to Alicante by the Goteta neighborhood, is this work of the architect Alfonso Navarro Guzman, officially called Edificio Montreal (Montreal Building), completed in 1981. In addition to its controversial image, it's interesting the arrangement of different housing typologies, all without courtyard and with cross ventilation, and the separation of pedestrian itineraries and rolled at different levels.
It consists of a main building with 8 gates with 1 or 2 elevators per gate serving a total of 180 houses, and 8 perpendicular arms to the "pyramidal" part, ground floor and a height projected as shops and services, which are grouped in pairs. Among them there are 3 landscaped areas through which were the access to shops (now converted into houses), while on the other side of each "arm" are the access to garages. On the sloping sides of the "pyramid" are located the duplex apartments.
