My research shows the railroad route here was established in 1868. There is a USGS disk set in the bridge's concrete foundation dated 1935, making this one-laner 82 years old at time of cache placement. There aren't many of these oldies around.
Cache itself is in a safe location – not on the bridge, not on or beyond the fenced area. If you choose to wander along the road, please be careful if your search party includes young cachers. For obvious safety reasons DO NOT walk on to the bridge. There is plenty of parking space on the northeast side of the bridge (gravel drive to the substation).
Back in 2009 a cache (GC1Y0QH) was hidden in a tree nearby. I never could locate it before it got archived. Several cachers posted how fun it was to be directed here due to the old one-lane bridge. I thought I'd tuck something in this area again to encourage some new smiles.
Enjoy the bridge and enjoy your search.
