On Monday, August 21, 2017 hermie618 and I are hosting a Great American Eclipse event in Bates Park in Herculaneum, MO. I have reserved a pavilion with a few picnic tables and plenty of room for lawn chairs. The pavilion is for our use from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. It provides shade from the hot August sun and, heaven forbid, shelter from rain. Come and hang out with other members of the geocaching community.
We don’t want you to be “Blinded By The Light”, so be sure to have proper eyewear for viewing. My hope is that “You’re (not) So Vain” to think you don’t need protection as you watch “The (night) Day The Lights (went) Go Out in (Georgia) Herculaneum”. As the “Total Eclipse of the (heart) Sun” is taking place, we will be able to see the “Dark Side of the Moon” and there “Ain’t No Sunshine” for two minutes and thirty-two seconds. “Here Comes the Sun” will follow as the “Moon Shadow” slowly fades away.
This is a meet and greet. Stop by for a few minutes or spend the entire day. Be sure to sign the log in any event.
There is a parking lot within a few feet of the pavilion, but with so many people expected in Herculaneum this day, we can’t make any promises about finding a spot to park. Restrooms are nearby. Bring a picnic lunch if you like and a cooler for your beverages. The pavilion is handicap accessable, but there is no designaed handicap parking that I saw.
