This cache has been archived.

Cenarius: Hi veveričke,

Unfortunately there's been some continuing issues with this cache and there is no reaction from the owner. Since the cache no longer meets the Guidelines requirements, I am archiving it. I'm also archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

If you think you have legitimate reasons for lack of maintenance and want to restore the cache in the near future, please let me know as soon as possible by the email provided in my profile. The message must include the GC code and the name of the cache. If the cache meets the requirements of the Guidelines and the reasons for unarchiving are justified, I may unarchive the cache.

IMPORTANT:
In case of permanent archiving of the cache, the owners are obliged to remove everything that they have placed on the field in relation to the cache (container and all placed waypoints).

Thank you for your understanding and best regards.

Geocache Description:

Za izgradnjo slabih 50 km železniške proge so torej proti koncu 19. stoletja, s takratno tehnologijo oziroma mehanizacijo, potrebovali zgolj – reci in piši – 428 dni!

Postojnska vrata).

DA BI PRIŠLI DO ZAKLADA, VAM NI TREBA STOPATI NA ALI ČEZ ŽELEZNIŠKE TIRE!

Kočevje track

Grosuplje-Kočevje railroad is a 49 km long section of Slovenian railway system. The decision to build it was made on 15th of July 1887, and ground was broken on 22nd of May 1892. Kočevje track was officially opened on 27th of September 1893, although the first train ran it already on 24th of July that year.

Therefore, it was fully constructed in staggering 428 days (with 19th century technology!), which means an average of less than 9 days per kilometer!

It mainly served for transport needs of Kočevje coal mine and timber industry, and until early 1970's for passenger transport as well. Today it's used exclusively for freight transport, but there are plans to reintroduce passenger trains.

Just under the stone bridge (waypoint KM) in Prilesje, the Kočevje track reaches it's maximum elevation of 581 m/asl, and this point, at the same time, is among the highest on entire Slovenian railway system.

TO FIND THE CACHE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO APPROACH OR WALK THE RAILS!
