Gre za območje reke od njenega izvira v kamniških planinah, njenega toka po Kamniško bistriški ravnini skozi Kamnik, Domžale in Dol pri Ljubljani, do sotočja treh rek: Save, Kamniške Bistrice in Ljubljanice.

It is an area of the river from its source in the Kamnik Alps, along to its current Kamnik Bistrica through Kamnik, Domžale and Dol near Ljubljana, the confluence of three rivers: the Sava, Kamnik Bistrica and the Ljubljanica.
