La bataille contre la Maison Bolton
Introduction
Les terres des Bolton se situent dans Le Nord et son siège se situent dans un chateau appelé Fort-Terreur situé à l'est de Winterfell.
La fondation de la maison Bolton remonte aux premières années de l'Age des Héros, au cours duquel les Premiers Hommes ne cessaient de se combattre. Les Bolton se sont longtemps opposé aux tentatives de leurs rivaux Stark d'unifier le Nord sous leur domination, tuant des Stark et conservant leurs peaux comme trophées selon certaines rumeurs.
Les Bolton furent cependant contraints de déclarer allégeance à la maison Stark en abandonnant leur pratique d'écorchement comme signe de leur soumission. Les Bolton se sont longtemps confrontés aux Starks lors de l'histoire, menaçant même de brûler Winterfell sous le règne d'Edrick Barbeneige.
Lors d'une rébellion de la maison Bolton, les forces Stark assiégèrent Fort-Terreur pendant deux ans, avant que la maison ne capitule à Harlon Stark et ne se soumette à nouveau à la domination Stark.
Lorsque Eddard Stark convoqua ses bannerets au cours de la rébellion menée par Robert Baratheon, Roose Bolton prit les armes et fut notamment présent lors de la bataille du Trident.

The battle against House Bolton
Introduction
The lands of Bolton are located in the North and their seat is located in a castle called The Dreadfort located east of Winterfell.
The origins of House Bolton date back to at least the Age of Heroes, a savage age in which the houses of First Men waged war one upon the other. For centuries, House Bolton resisted the efforts of the Starks to unify the North under their rule, killing several Starks in the process, and, according to rumors, keeping their skins as trophies and even wearing them as cloaks.
During these centuries when the North was divided into a dozen or so smaller petty kingdoms, the Boltons and Starks were chief rivals for domination over all the others. The leaders of House Bolton during this time were known as the Red Kings, and their kingdom covered a large portion of the lands east of Winterfell, centered around the Dreadfort itself. Bolton-bends-the-knee King Rogar Bolton bends the knee to the Starks of Winterfell.
Eventually, the Boltons were defeated and bent the knee to House Stark, giving up their practice of flaying their prisoners as sign of their submission. Nevertheless, they remained the second most powerful house of the North.
The practice of flaying, however, was officially outlawed in the North just during the lordship of Eddard Stark.
