Sunday lunchtime on the beach. An informal get-together with any local or visiting cachers.
I'm not often on the island during the peak holiday season (it's too busy and I don't want to pay the exorbitant ferry fare!); but thought it would be good to have a second Dunroamin beach event - nearly 7 years after the first one!
Holding the event on the island seemed appropriate, as my enthusiasm for geocaching started when I was persuaded to go to an 'Introduction to Geocaching' event on Brading Down - held as part of the IOW Walking Festival in May 2008.
I was given a Garmin Geko on 27/5/2008 and logged my first Geocaching.com find that same day.
Help me celebrate my 10 years of caching!
We'll be there from about 11.30am to 1.30pm, so please drop in and say hello.
Will try to get a group photo around 1230.
Tide will be high at 1041 (keep an eye on the mini-cachers), but plenty of space for beach fun and picnics after that.
Bank holiday weekend, so if it rains (as it did during our first event here) we'll still be on the beach - swimming in the rain is great, if you haven't tried it!
There is a cafe nearby for refreshments.
Wheelchair or buggy access to the sea wall is easy, but the best route is from either Shanklin or Sandown, which will involve a level walk of about 1km along the revetment.
