This mystery cache will take you on a tour of the Comox Valley. Visit the five locations listed below to collect the information used to solve the puzzle.
HERE'S WHAT TO DO
There is a two-digit number prominently displayed somewhere within 100 metres of each of the five traffic intersections listed below. These five numbers are presented the same way, so once you've obtained one you will know what to look for in order to get the others.
With each number you will find a set of letters. There will be two larger letters (which form part of the keyword) with the three smaller letters below (which form part of the coordinates) in each set.
Arrange the five sets so that the larger letters form a word. This ten-letter word is the keyword; use it with the fifteen smaller letters to decipher the final coordinates.
AN EXAMPLE
Here are some sample sets of letters.
Re-arrange them so the larger letters form a word.
The keyword is ARTICHOKES. Therefore A=1, R=2, T=3, I=4, C=5, H=6, O=7, K=8, E=9 and S=0.
The coordinate text is IEI AHI IAR ICE KST, and when deciphered it becomes 494 164 412 459 803.
The final coordinates would be N 49° 41.644 W 124° 59.803 for this example.
