An ornithologist likes birds, all kinds of birds, even penguins. There once was an ornithologist who challenged some penguins to hide this cache container. When you see the container, you will know why this had taken us some time to do. Finding the container is going to be easy, even with the very bouncy cords. It is placed inside a cedar tree, the left one of two tall cedar trees on the trail. You will likely see the cord tethering the cache on your approach from either direction....... Getting to this geocache though, is the challenge!
The terrain is set higher for the wet months. The trail can be very slippery and dangerous even during the dry times. A walking stick is highly recommended. You will likely get muddy no matter what time of year. Trail head coordinates have been provided and the cache is located approximately 0.1 miles walking distance, in from either entrance. The cache is tethered to keep it from possibly floating away during the very wet months. There is stinging nettle along the trail.
We added a lock, so the geocache can be used as a TB stop. Please log ALL travel bugs ASAP!! If you are new to geocaching or do not understand what a travel bug is, please write down the code number of the travel bug and leave it for another geocacher to move. You can find more information and learn about travel bugs with this link, GEOCACHING TRAVEL BUG FAQS.
To open the cache, use the combination "BIRD". After you dial in the combination you might need to squeeze top and bottom of lock together to get it to open. To close the lock, scramble the combination and then push it closed. Please make sure the cache is locked and back inside the tree out of sight when done.
If you are having ANY issues with the cache please message or email me directly. The wonderful people at the store are aware of the geocaches, but will not be able to assist you.
The trail is ONLY open when the farm store is open.
