Geocache Description:

14th installment of Rhode Island's
31 Events of August 2017 series

Victory Day
Monday August 14th, 2017
2:00 - 4:00pm

Diamond Hill Park
Cumberland, Rhode Island

across the street from the Ice Cream Machine

There are many good geocaches and letterbox hybrids located within the Diamond Hill Park and nearby areas including the Puzzle Gauntlet series.  If you have the day off, it might be an opportuntiy to team up with others to take a hike with some elevation changes to conquer.

We have scheduled the geo meet for the afternoon between lunch and dinner time, but realize that it will be somewhat of a given that most attendees will make a stop at the nearby Ice Cream Machine to try a flavor or two, whether it be before, during or after the event.

The DHP grounds are the venue for the annual CumberlandFest which takes place this year from Friday 8/11 through Sunday 8/13, so we expect that there may be some take down and cleaning up going on during Monday, but expect a picnic area under the tall pines to be available to gather to share stories surrounding the first two weeks of August events and making plans for caching and events through the rest of the month.

Be it known, that Victory Day is an holiday observed in the state of Rhode Island with state offices closed on the second Monday of August. It was formerly a federal holiday in the United States from 1948 until 1975 and has historically commemorated the anniversary of Japan’s surrender to the Allies in 1945 which ended World War II.
