Geocache Description:

What: 8 mile Paddling Cleanup

When: Saturday, 10-07-17, 8:00am, to 5:00pm

Where: Econlockhatchee River, from CR-419 to Snow Hill Rd

*** NOTE: Due to our latest hurricane, the camping has been cancelled ***

*** NOTE: Major changes to this event. ***
I really hate hurricanes... Due to the continued flooding along the Econlockhatchee River, the camping area has been closed, and vehicle access has been suspended. Sorry guys. I spoke with Forestry, and they said we are welcome to do this event as a one day cleanup, but they can not currently give their blessings on us camping afterward. So here's what we'll do instead!

I'll send an email to BoJaB, asking that he change the posted coordinates from the campsite, to the landing on Snow Hill Rd. I'd change them myself, but they exceed the 528' distance allowed without Reviewer intervention.

We'll meet at the 419 launch at 8:00am on Saturday morning, shuttle vehicles over to Snow Hill, then splash our boats, paddling the 8 miles to Snow Hill Rd, gathering up as much trash as we can, along the way.

If you can't make the paddle, have no fear. There are other ways you can earn a smiley. Meet us at the launch site, on 419, and help us drag boats to the river. Help us shuttle cars to Snow Hill. Meet us at the landing on Snow Hill, and help us load boats onto cars. Go to either the launch, or the landing, and clean up trash there. The official target time for us to reach Snow Hill Rd is 5:00pm. This may change drastically, depending on conditions. If there's a bunch of trash, or lots of downed trees to circumnavigate, it may take longer. If not, it make take less time. 5:00pm is just a guess.

Please keep the weather and the environment in mind, when planning for this trip. Bring sun screen, bug spray, snacks, and lots of water. There are some critters you need to be aware of, to include alligators, venomous snakes, skeeters, ticks, wild hogs and feral cattle. If you are not comfortable around these critters, you may want to skip this event.

Hope to see you there!
