On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. Observers outside this path will still see a partial solar eclipse where the moon covers part of the sun's disk. NASA created this website to provide a guide to this amazing event... The event is from 2:15-3:15 pm, and at approximately 2:43 our area will be in 80% totality. Protect your eyes during tthis event. We will be viewing an eclipse., as well as trading travel bugs and telling tall tails of geocaching.. You may want to try a pinhole camera or solar-viewing glasses. Both can be found on the web. It is most important that you to protect your eyes during this event.
The even is being held at the new Stafford County Armed Forces Memorial. The dedication was in July 2017.
