Outlet to Inlet Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wheelygood: Recently paddled past of the wps, confirmed it was gone. Then a day later a reminder from ST I haven't held up my end of the maintenance duty. Pro tip for easy paddling fun, leave the gps in a drawer at home, put blade in the water and draw towards yourself.

Geocache Description:

Your trip begins at the outlet of Irondequoit Bay, concludes at Irondequoit Creek, the inlet of the bay.  Motorized boats can be used.

Do to the longer length of this multi way point layout, if using human power, you might consider setting up a vehicle shuttle. Leave a vehicle at LaSalle Landing, the inlet takeout.

At each way point* you are looking for the portion of numbers or letters for the next set of coordinates. Usually just the last 4 of north and west. [A = 1 B = 2 C = 3…] A variety of difficulties/methods/materials have been used at the wps. The final is a short walk to a magnetic key holder.

As the water level drops the second (2nd) WP will get quite difficult to reach from a sitting position in a kayak. If on a jet ski or in a powerboat you will not have an issue

*At the fourth (4th) WP find numbers.

Subtract 967 from the number = North coordinate

Subtract 767 from the number = South coordinate

It is not necessary to look under water, special tools are not needed. Some minor wading may be needed depending on the water level. Motorized boats may need to do a little more wading once you get close to shore just to protect hull and prop.

Planning your trip. Check the forecast. Look at a map of the bay, you determine how long it will take you to travel from outlet to inlet. From that assessment bring appropriate amounts of water, food, sun block, clothing etc. You will have to cross open water, always WEAR your personal flotation device.

As with any boating activity be prepared for quickly changing weather and water conditions.

If you need help shuttling a vehicle to the south end please contact me, I may be of assistance.
