Ryan's Park is a park, like many in Tacoma, that needs a cache. I checked out several parks in the area but this one stood out.
This park was orginally named Celebration Park. It was renamed for Ryan Hade, a 7 year old child that was viciously attacked here in in 1989. He survived until adulthood but died in a motorcycle accident. . The full story about Ryan, his life and the impact he had is available on line. In 2009 the city of Tacoma changed the name of the park to memorialize him. It was a overgrown lot, but now is a lovely park, which honors Ryan's memory and the children that enjoy it now.
