This cache is a gadget cache that is placed on the grounds of the Visitors Center of the "Dog Trot Captial of the World" Dubach Louisiana. The visitors center office is a unique style house that was originally built in 1883 by Thomas Yancy Colvin for his new bride who had requested it for her wedding present. The the Colvin family members donated the house to the Dubach Restoration and Beautification Organization and it was moved on June 14, 2006 from its orginial location on Pea Ridge Road to where it is today.
The story says that all the lumber for the house was dressed by hand on the site. The “dog trot” obtained its name because the center of the house was left open to allow for cross ventilation in the summer. The dogs regularly “trotted” from one side of the house to the other thru this open area or just enjoyed the shade it provided from the intense summer heat. Very few of these homes remain today and Dubach has two. Therefore, they have claimed the name of “Dog Trot Capitol of the World.
The locks are very precise, be sure to line up the numbers with the marker on the lock. Please put the locks back in the same place where you found them. Just match the color on the lock with the color on the hasp.
