Geocache Description:

This cache is in a little-used section of Rib Mountain State Park, There are no trails.  The terrain is rocky and steep.  Wear good shoes, and a walking stick might be a good addition to help with your footing.

Even if you've been just about everywhere in this park, you probably haven't been here.  If you have, you know it's a cool spot and worth the hike. Which is probably good.  Because there's no guarantee you'll find the cache.  This isn't a nano in the woods, but it's still a difficult hide in a place where you have to take a long hike over rough terrain.  The only thing I can say in favor of getting to GZ is that there is essentially no understory in these woods, no blackberries, and basically no ticks.  But there are rocks (lots of them) and mosquitoes (lots of them, too) and there is no 'trail' to follow.

You are looking for a large, plastic jug about the size of an ammo can.

This is part of a new Series for us - the No Fear series. Complete this series and you will probably have to conquer some of your fears.

I struggled coming up with a name for this one, or even deciding if it should be part of the No Fear series.  I know there will be people who hike all the way out here and end up with a long, frustrating and ultmately unsuccessful search.  If that's you, don't hate the hide, or the hider, I warned you. You're looking in the rocks.

I could have called this one 'Atychiphobia' (Fear of failure), or 'Trypophobia' (Fear of small holes), 'Amychophobia' (Fear of being scratched), 'Cnidophobia' (Fear of stings), 'Entomophobia' (Fear of insects), or many others, but in truth, I don't know what you'll feel afraid of as you search for the cache. But there is something visceral about searcing with your hands, and not your eyes. It's scary. That's why I ultimately called it 'Kenophobia', which is Fear of Empty Spaces. In your mind you will place whatever you are afraid of in those empty spaces, and you will have to overcome that fear to find the cache.

I really don't recommend this one at night, and please don't go if it's snowy or really rainy. I'd hate to have anyone slip and fall, and there are legitimately hazardous places up there if you're not careful.  The ground up there is an unbroken jumble of rocks in some places. Young kids (<6) probably won't enjoy this, nor will anyone with a poor sense of balance.

The cache is located in Rib Mountain State Park, and written permission has been obtained from the Park Property Manager, William H. Bursaw. Please observe park hours and do not attempt this cache if you cannot be out of the park by 11:00 pm.
