Welcome to Flagg Hill Conservation land and home of the first cache hidden by AdventurePig.The Flagg Hill conservation area covers about 450 acres of land and contains open meadows, wetlands, upland forest, vernal pools, streams and marshes. The area is also an active wildlife habitat. On a good day, you might see deer, porcupine, chipmunks and red squirrels. There are also lots of birds in the area. This isn’t a drive by cache. From Windmere Rd parking, round trip is 2.8 miles. The final cache is near a nice, open field which makes for a good picnic area on a nice day.
Parking for the cache can be found at either end of the Flagg Hill property. There are two gravel lots, one on Windmere Rd in Boxborough, the other on West Acton Rd in Stow. Both are equidistance from the first clue, although coming from one direction will mean you have to back-track a short distance.
Both parts of the cache are within five feet of trails so no need to bushwhack. There is a bit of poison ivy near the final cache, so be careful.
A trail map with descriptions of Flagg Hill and other conservation land is available on the Stow Conservation Trust's website.
