The Tomb is part of Kurumazuka Park 車塚公園 maintained by Hirakata City and open to public. You can explore freely along the trails nicely laid out in the park. The listed coordinates are at one of the entrances of the park and no containers are placed except at the final location.
Read following procedures carefully to figure out the final location.
Procedure 1
Perform GPS measurements at red marks indicated in photos of Plaque, Circle and Monument.
Plaque: N 34° __.___ E 135° __.___
Circle: N 34° __.___ E 135° __.___
Monument: N 34° __.___ E 135° __.___
Procedure 2
Average GPS coordinates of Plaque, Circle and Monument to obtain coordinates of a waypoint called AVE.
AVE: N 34° __.___ E 135° __.___
Procedure 3
For four stone stairs S1, S2, S3 and S4 , stand on the red marks and measure the distance D1, D2, D3 and D4 (m) from the waypoint AVE, respectively, using GPS. Then count the number of steps N1, N2, N3 and N4, respectively, as climbing up the stairs to the top step
D1 = ___m , D2 = ___m , D3 = ___m , and D4 = ___m ;
N1 = ___ , N2 = ___ , N3 = ___ , and N4 = ___ .
Procedure 4
Now, you are ready to figure out the final location.
Sum up D1, D2,D3 and D4 to make Ds :
Ds = D1 + D2 + D3 + D4 = ____ .
Also, sum up N1,N2,N3 and N4 to make Ns :
Ns = N1 + N2 + N3 + N4 = ____ .
The final coordinates are given at a distance X(m) and azimuth Y(°) from the waypoint AVE,
where X = 0.370 × Ds = ___m and Y = 0.868 × Ns = ___°
Enjoy exploring the Tomb!
