Geocache Description:

So to have others come to check some of the history of the area, I placed a geocache just outside the cemetery grounds. Hope you enjoy some Saskatchewan history.

When I had asked about the cemetery in Herbert,I was told it was called the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery and also I was  told that it was the Hebert Catholic Cemetery. What else could I do, I had to go check it out and sure enough none these names on the cemetery sign. It is called the St Pat's Cemetery. With more then forty graves I spent about half hour checking out the sight.

The church was closed in 1983 due to falling numbers of parishioners and shortage of priests to officiate.

The church was last used for a funeral service for Cecilia Donnelly in August 1989. The building was sold in 1996 to Patricia Donnelly, of Montreal, formerly of Herbert, to be restored and displayed as a historical site.

St. Pat's Cemetery is still maintained as such beside the road north of Herbert
