Geocache Description:

A cache at the heart of the Morrisey Cottonwood Giants – read the cache card inside to learn more about this incredible spot!


This cache takes you to the Ancient Cottonwood forest where you will enjoy a beautiful 1.5 km hike along a wonderfully maintained and scenic trail in amongst interpretive signs and hundred-year-old giant trees. Make sure to read the information card in the cache to learn about the important role cottonwoods play in the watershed!

 

The cache is medium sized and in a clear Tupperware container. In the cache you will find an information card, stickers, pencils, and a logbook, but you might want to bring a piece of paper to write some things down!

 

This geocache is part of a series of geocaches that will take you along the Elk River; from where it begins frozen in glaciers, high up at Elk Lakes Provincial Park, to it's final destination at Lake Koocanusa. There are many beautiful and significant sites that you will visit along this vibrant ribbon of life as it meanders through the Elk Valley, including historical remnants, biological wonders, and stunning scenery. Come explore the Elk River!
