This cache was nearby and I decided to grab it. I wasn't sure if I had the needed caches for a challenge I'm working on so I added this one to the list as we were in the area. My Smart Phone was having a little trouble settling down. I put it away and just circled my way around the small section of woods. I found this geocache in fine working order. I added my ink and replaced where I found it. Thanks for adding to my adventure. On to the next geocache!

TODAY'S ADVENTURE:
We woke this morning in Mackinaw City. I had hope to get an early start but apparently I needed to catch up on some needed sleep. As I got out of bed the sun was just rising into view on the horizon over the lake. Not a sight I typically get to see living on the West side of the state. It was a lovely sun rise and a great way to wake up and start the day! We grabbed a few caches in town and a breakfast sandwich from one of the bakery's. I was hoping to be up and at it before anyone else was on the streets but that didn't happen. We were still early enough that there was hardly any foot, bike, or vehicle traffic to contend with.

After breakfast on the go and another geocache found, we started our way south bound. We made our way south grabbing target caches and the last two stages of the Waterways Adventure Lab. From Indian River we worked our way W/B to Harbor Springs. We had to stop there for TheCFO. One of her life long bucket list things was to visit from Tom's Mom's Cookies in Harbor Springs. Growing up she hear commercials and tall tails of how good the cookies were. She is a cookie monster, I mean a cookie connoisseur. We were in the area so she added the destination and I was only too happy to fulfill this bucket list request! We arrived and it wasn't very busy. Better yet they still had a selection of all their cookies. We picked a couple of cookies in several flavors, just to make sure they are worth all the hype. Our vote is they are worth the years of hype. I have to admit, they are really good cookies! I'm glad to have been able to help TheCFO check this off her bucket list.

We continued our way S/B along the lake shore(ish) grabbing target caches. We made our way through Petoskey, and Charlevoix, and East Jordan before pulling into Traverse City. We were going to visit family in TC before heading for home but decided to spend one more night in the Northern Lower. What an awesome day on the geocaching trail. It was another picture perfect day up here. Full sun, a little warm, with temps in the high 80's. There was a great breeze to keep it from being uncomfortable. We were able to see a few early colors of fall on a few trees. We are again motivated to come back up here in a few weeks to see more of these fine fall colors!

WEEKEND ADVENTURE:
TheCFO surprised me mid week, asking if I wanted to road trip to the norther lower to work on the MiGO county cache type challenge. Find four cache types in every Michigan County from the date the challenge starts. (Past finds don't count, drats!) I have been working on this challenge slowly but as of late summer, not at all. There's a million other places to go and lots to do. I was surprised even further when my more snuggle muggle vs geocaching wife said. I will pick the caches in the counties you need. That way she got to pick the caches she was interested in, and none of them were two tracks. She does not enjoy it when I two track. Thursday Night she gave me the list of caches and I plugged them into Cachetur and built our route. I added some adventure labs, which she really likes too. I added a few other geocaches related to other challenges I'm working on. Our plan on Sunday is to visit family up here before busing home. Looking forward to a fun geocaching weekend with my favorite shotgun rider!
