To find this cache you need first to go outside the Free Church of Scotland in Cnoc An Torrain (Knockintorran). The initial coordinates should take you approximately there.
The cache container is not here but there is a curious inscription which is relevant to the title of this cache that you will need to get the container's coordinates. The inscription is written on stones that were apparently taken from an old lighthouse on the island of Shillay in the Monarch Islands that are off the west coast of North Uist. They were inscribed by one of the lighthouse keepers. Interestingly, just to the south of Shillay, there is an Eilean Sìorraidh (whose name, when translated to English, is relevant to the inscription and the cache title) - whether this inscription is a reference to Eilean Sìorraidh or the solitude of the island is unrecorded.
You do not need to enter the church or its grounds to find the inscription. Please bear in mind that services are held here several times a week and be respectful if a service is in progress.
To find the final location you need to use the inscription to produce the final coordinates as follows:
a = the number of words in the inscription
b = the number of letters in the last word of the inscription plus the number of H's in the inscription
c = the number of C's in the inscription
d = the number of Y's in the inscription
e = the number of E's in the inscription plus the number of T's in the inscription
f = the number of vowels (the letters A, E, I, O or U) in the inscription added to the number of letters in the shortest word
The coordinates for the cache container are: N57 35.abc W007 27.def
The cache container is small but with enough room for a log, a pen, a pencil and, for the FTF, a small painted pebble. This cache might be able to hold a very small TB (such as one of the smaller geocoins).
Please be aware that the cache container lid slides off - it does not lift. Also make sure you place it back exactly as you found it as it should be invisible from any direction.
