Hidden within a small crevasse... Nearby the idyllic Mathesons Bay, do not let his skink-like appearance fool you. Often the reptilian monster of Awakutuhop has consumed unassuming beachgoers, bushwalkers or retired campervaneers. Beware, the terrain surrounding the monsters den can sometimes be swampy, a great marshy expanse susceptible to flooding. Through drier periods the monster finds itself sustenance by feeding on migrational campervaneers, afterward he enjoys the wine that often comes with his meals.
The cache can be approached from two directions, Park at the upper Trailhead Parking as way-pointed on the map and make your way down to the bay via a well maintained and picturesque bushwalk. The walk takes approx. 45mins at a relaxed pace. Alternatively, park at the lower Carpark to be right by the beach, park, toilets, and close to GZ.
