The park is in honor of Joshua Huddy, the Revolutionary war hero who was very important in the history of Toms River and the entire area gaining independence. He was such a nuisance to the Colonial Army that they eventually captured him and hung him to death on April 12th, 1782. Unfortunately the British also chose to burn Toms River to the ground!

Note: Do not attempt to park or stop near the cache on the busy road. There is ample parking just across the bridge and to the right in the park's public parking lot. Bring 75 cents/hour for the meter. The cache is an easy walk on paved paths and over the pretty bridge from the parking lot.
