Koyasan Danjo Garan Sacred Temple Complex, Chumon Traditional Cache

Koyasan is the name of the temple city in Wakayama Prefecture. There is no one mountain officially called Mt. Koya-san in Japan.
First settled in 819 by the monk Kobo Daishi (Kukai) , Koyasan is primarily known as the world headquarters of the Koyasan Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism.

A cache is hidden outside the temple premises, near the Chumon gate.
