Kätkö sijaitsee museon lähettyvillä. Lapin metsämuseo Museo on perustettu vuonna 1962, jolloin hevoset alkoivat tehdä metsätöissä tilaa koneille. Tässä murrosvaiheessa päätettiin jättää tietoa menneistä menetelmistä ja työkaluista tuleville sukupolville. Näyttely keskittyy esittelemään Lapin suurten savottojen aikakautta 1870- luvulta metsätöiden koneellistuminen saakka 1960-70- luvuille. Lapin metsämuseo kertoo viimeisen sadan vuoden metsätöiden muuttumisesta. Museossa kerrotaan tarkemmin savotta- ja uittotöistä sekä siellä työskennelleiden jätkien elämästä erilaisissa asumuksissa. Alueelta löytyy aitoja ja asuttuna savottakämppiä, metsätyövälineitä, uittokalustoa ja metsätyökoneita. Näitä on siirretty alueelle ympäri Lappia. Museon toiminnasta vastaa Lapin metsämuseoyhdistys ryhmä. Museo sijaitsee noin 3,5 km Rovaniemen keskustasta. Museo on avoinna 1.6.2017-31.8.2017 Keskiviikosta sunnuntaihin 11-17. ################# The cache is located near the Museum. Forestry Museum of Lapland The Museum is located 3,5 km from Rovaniemi city centre. You can come here on foot, by bike or by car. The Museum is open 1.6.2017-31.8.2017 Wed-Sun 11-17. Forestry Museum of Lapland tells a story of Lapland’s great logging era extending from 1870’s all the way through to machine operated forestry of 1960’s-1970’s. In the wooded museum area there are genuine logging cabins, logging tools, timber floating tools and forestry machines on display. Forest cabins and other buildings have been transferred to the museum’s location from various parts of Lapland and all the cabins, stables and saunas have their own interesting history. Also the items on display have their own story: one of the most interesting and impressive items on the museum’s ground is Sandberg’s steam locomotive that was perhaps the first of its kind used on machine operated logging sites 7 in Finland.
