The Gore Cemetery in Arreton is managed by Arreton Parish Council and is now the only 'open' cemetery in the parish since the closure of the churchyard at St George's Church nearby.
This location overlooks what was once known as Gore Basin which in recent times was home to a world standard moto-cross circuit. Prior to that it was known for its annual crop of rhubarb!
Unfortunately, recent years have seen the development of that site into an anaeorobic digester (gas production) plant which from time to time has resulted in rather unpleasant smells and in the spring, summer and autumn seasons, what seems to be a continual stream of tractors towing trailers full of green cuttings from farms all over the island.
Nonetheless, this remains a peaceful, well-maintained cemetery.
The cache is not in the cemetery itself and is a micro-cylindrical container containing only a log. There is a tiny geocache smiley token in the container for the FTF!
