By 1916, it became necessary to have another school in the District because of the number of students attending the schools.
Two brothers took it upon themselves to buy the lumber and the school was built. The entire cost of the building including paint was less than $600.
The school opened in September 1917 with 32 pupils.
The highlight of each school year was the Christmas Concert. During the 1930’s the concerts were held together with the Dinton school students and the concerts were held in the Dinton Community Hall, (On the corner of #547 where you turned/will turn off the main road).
Former students have fond memories of these Christmas Concerts and right or not the reputation of the teacher depended upon the “quality” of the Christmas Concert.
After GR 8 students went with to Blackie or boarded out with family in larger centres like High River, Okotoks or Calgary,
The school closed in 1940 due to only 7 students attending.
With school consolidation, the Cottage school house was moved to Ridgeview and students were bused there until the Ridgeview Consolidated School closed and students went to Blackie.
