Geocache Description:

Here is another edition in our puzzle series providing you history of various towns in SE Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

N 41° 53.ABC W 071° 11.[D+4]EF

Established in 16E3, Rehoboth is one of the oldest towns in Massachusetts.

One of the founding fathers of Rehoboth was Samuel Newman, a clergyman from Weymouth, Massachusetts who was born on May 10, 1C02.

Rehoboth was a significant site during King Philip's War. On June 3A, 1675, King Philip led a small force in a surprise attack against the undefended settlement of Rehoboth, killing settlers, burning houses, and causing residents to live in constant fear of attack.

Rehoboth was attacked again during King Philip’s War. On March 2B, 1676 Canonchet led the Narragansetts in a second attack, destroying 42 homes, 21 barns, corn mills and a sawmill.

Rehoboth’s Anawan Rock was the site of the capture of Wampanoag Chief Indian Anawan by Captain Benjamin Church on August 2F, 1676, thus end King Philip’s War.

Rehoboth’s historic Hornbine School, built in 184D, is located in the southeast corner of town and is open to the public for visiting and educational purposes from May to September.
