At 8pm on Good Friday, April 21st 1916, 2 cars left Killarney railway station carrying seven members of the Irish Volunteers. They were on a mission to seize a wireless transmitter.
The Cars lost site of each other between Killarney and Killorglin. The 2nd car missed a turning and headed towards Ballykissane Pier at the mouth of the river Laune. Minutes later the car tumbles off the unprotected pier into the river at full tide.
