For those of us who grew up in Detroit, this was the catch phrase crafted by the incomparable Ernie Harwell when the Tigers completed a double play (for me it was Trammell-Whitaker-First base du jour).
This cache however, has nothing to do with baseball. It does have something to do with getting 2-for-1. The cache is a regular traditional (not in the pine tree) but nearby there is a NGS benchmark (AA5403). For those unaware, the description of what a benchmark is from http://geocaching.com/mark
A benchmark is a point whose position is known to a high degree of accuracy and is normally marked in some way. The marker is often a metal disk made for this purpose, but it can also be a church spire, a radio tower, a mark chiseled into stone, or a metal rod driven into the ground. Over two centuries or so, many other objects of greater or lesser permanence have been used. Benchmarks can be found at various locations all over the United States. They are used by land surveyors, builders and engineers, map makers, and other professionals who need an accurate answer to the question, "Where?" Many of these markers are part of the geodetic control network (technically known as the National Spatial Reference System, or NSRS) created and maintained by NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS).
You do not get credit for a "Found it!" for your totals but there is a separate category on your profile page for benchmarks. Some challenge caches like the "25x10 Icon Challenge" (GC3MPZY) allow Benchmarks to be used to complete the requirements. We have logged in 5 so far, including the one by this cache. If you look at our profile, we have posted pics of what these can look like (including the one here).
So, when you are searching for this cache, take a short side trip and you can log this as well. See if you notice what I did about where you are actually standing versus what is on the marker.
For some of the more experienced cachers, there was a cache in this location that was archived and I know many have logged the benchmark before, so I guess you're out of luck on the special 2-for-1 offer. Enjoy anyway!
