[RO] Pe valea Oituzului la vest de municipiul Onești se găsește comuna Bogdănești atestată documentar pe 15 martie 1410 de către Alexandru cel Bun și care derivă de la Bogdan al II-lea care a stăpânit aceste pământuri.
Pe teritoriul localității și a dealurilor din împrejurimi, în perioada celui de-al doilea Război Mondial s-au dus lupte grele pentru apărarea pământului strămoșesc și a credinței străbune.
În cinstea celor căzuți pe câmpul de luptă, Asociația “Cultul Eroilor” a adunat osemintele tuturor ostașilor, atât români cât și de alte naționalități și le-a îngropat în groapa comună peste care a ridicat un impetuos monument, fie în morminte simple în jurul acestuia.
Semn al luptelor din zonă, alături de Cimitirul Eroilor, există un monument dedicat aceluiaș eveniment, respectiv “Cișmeaua din sat” ridicat de către Cercul Militar al Subofițerilor reangajați din Bacău, purtând însemnele lozincilor rostite de soldații români, precum “Nici pe aici nu se trece" sau“Învingem, ori murim”, lozincă a ostașilor de la Mărăști.
