Geocache Description:

The SFE (Something For Everyone) Challenge Series is a mix of challenge caches of varying difficulty.
  • Some you may already qualify for.
  • Some you may decide are not for you.
  • Some you may choose as a goal to achieve.
  • It's up to you.

In accordance with the 2016 Challenge cache regulations:
  • The cache is hidden at the posted coordinates.
  • You may put your name in the logbook at any time but you may only log a find when you have qualified as well. There is a challenge checker link below to use to check this.
  • The D rating reflects the difficulty of the challenge. The T rating reflects the terrain of the hide.
  • The CO has qualified for each challenge.

The Showcasing Adelaide Challenge:
  • Some cachers target caches in remote areas. But others like to find those in the city. This challenge is for you.
  • Hiding/finding caches in a city has its own challenges as muggles abound. Thus a city often has a good mix of cache types.
  • This is our chance to Showcase Adelaide with a Dozen offerings from our home city.
  • It was designed so that a tourist can complete it in one day. Accordingly most locals will also easily qualify.
  • For this challenge you need to find 3 different geocache types and at least 12 geocaches in total with their posted coordinates within the Adelaide City Council area.
  • For tourists - this Challenge should be easily doable within one day of exploring. We hope you enjoy our city. Please see the map below - every area on the map counts.
  • For locals - every cache inside the CBD, in North Adelaide, and in the parklands will count.
  • For GSAK, Project GC, and some other app users, you can try filtering on County = Adelaide (C)(4).
  • Please consider naming your favourite Adelaide cache in your log. This may help tourists choose which caches to target if they are trying to complete this one in a day.
  • The challenge checker below the map will verify you qualify.

Caches in Adelaide at time of this challenge publication:
  • Although you only need 3 cache types for this challenge, at the time of publication there were at least 8 different cache types available in this area.
  • There were well over 100 caches in total in the area.
  • Traditional: Over 20 caches.
  • Multi: Over 20 caches.
  • Unknown: Over 20 caches.
  • Earthcache: 7 caches.
  • Virtual: 5 caches.
  • Wherigo: 5 caches.
  • Webcam: 2 caches.
  • Letterbox: 2 caches.
  • Events are also common in central Adelaide and this may mean there is 9th type available too.
  • Be aware that these are the posted locations and that some multis, unknowns, and wherigos may have a final location which is further afield. However a good number of each do finish in this area.

The Hide:
  • The Grenfell Street Power Station was operated by the South Australia Electric Light and Motive Power Company between 1901 and 1904. Incorporated in 1895, the company was the first to supply public electricity to Adelaide, and responsible for powering the city’s electric tramway system. In 1904, ownership of the power station transferred to the Adelaide Electric Supply Company, which operated at the site until 1925. After functioning as a TAFE venue, the former power station building now houses Tandanya, Australia’s National Aboriginal Cultural Institute.
  • The cache is hidden near the north east corner of the building. You will need to be a bit stealthy please.
  • The greater than 1 hour and <10km walk attribute relate to finding 12 caches before this one for those starting from scratch. If you already qualify it will be much easier to collect.
