Geocache Description:

A CITO event on Wimbledon Common

Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Through these volunteer efforts, we preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources.

Geocachers host Cache In Trash Out events in their local area. Together, we make an enormous positive impact. Did I mention we get to wear waders for this one.

Wombling in Waders!

Earlier in the year the Rangers asked us to help with the litter situation on the commons vast area, which the geocachers who came fulfilled with a massive 30 bags of rubbish collected. They were so impressed with our efforts the Head Ranger contacted me again and asked if we could help clear the Beverley Brook of rubbish. This area of the common is quite quiet, so can suffer from a lot of rubbish accumulation. Knowing how much the geocaching community loves to deploy it's specialist equipment, I agreed to host this event.

We will meet at 11am at the given coordinates for a chat and the all important health & safety instructions, before talking a walk down to the Brook, please bear in mind it is at least a walk of 1km, so you may want to change onto your waders after the walk, as we all know how sweaty they can get! We will spend a couple of hours clearing the Brook of rubbish before meeting back at the Windmill cafe for the usual geochat at 1.30pm.

This event has a higher risk associated with it and the need for all attendees to bring specialist equipment, and I have reflected that in the d/t rating.

While it is appreciated if people of all ages volunteer to help at this event, children under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult at all times, as the Rangers and organisers insist that this event and general litter picking is carried out at your own risk and neither they or Groundspeak can take any responsibility for any accidents or injuries that may occur as result of this activity.
