This cache was originally placed for the 9th annual First State Challenge!
FSC-2017 was sponsored by Delaware Geocaching!

Although the challenge has ended, this cache is still available to be found!



FSC-2017 Judge Morris Estate

Cache Details:
Park is open from 8AM to sunset.

A park entrance fee is charged daily from March 1 to November 30. This fee allows your vehicle and its passengers to enter any Delaware State Park on the date of purchase, except for Fort Delaware, Fenwick State Line Beach and the Brandywine Zoo. For Inland Parks the fee is $4 for Delaware registered vehicles and $8 for out-of-state vehicles.

The cache is NOT at the listed coords........but you must first go there to determine the Final Coords by solving a simple field puzzle:

FINAL COORDS: N39 42.3AB W75 42.4CD

A= number of windows on MAIN part of house on this side with white shutters

B= number of windows on second floor of house (main plus addition to right) on this side

C=number of chimneys that can be seen from this spot (may move back to grass to get better view) MINUS one

D= number of dormers on this side of the house PLUS one

Check sum: A+B+C+D=17

Cache is located just off the Chestnut Hill Trail.

The cache is an ammo can.


Description:
Hugh Morris was appointed judge of the US district court for Delaware by President Woodrow Wilson. He went to Delaware College (now University of Delaware) and served on UD's board of trustees from 1929-1959. The Hugh Morris Library was named in his honor and dedicated on April 4, 1964.
