Gone Fishin' Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Foxbolt: Both parts appear to have been muggled. This is quite a few times now and I think it's time for this one to go to cache Valhalla and feast with it's compatriots. Cache archived.

Geocache Description:

This is a two step multi-cache where you should get to the final stage very quickly. How quickly you complete the final stage is a different matter! Great care needs to be taken, especially with geokids, as access to both parts of the cache is by a road with no footpath. It is now very busy since flooding damaged the other bridge nearby.

The setting for the cache is the beautiful Lower Cumber area of Claudy on the banks of the River Faughan. Here an old stone bridge crosses the river and the banks beside it are a favourite spot for fishermen trying their luck with the salmon. As a result it can be a high muggle area (particularly during the salmon fishing season from 1st May to 20th October) and the traffic for such a small country road can be heavier than expected, so take care. The Loughs Agency are also active to prevent poaching and you may be stopped and asked what you are doing by them. I was when placing the cache although they were very supportive when I explained what I was up to and that it didn't involve the salmon!

Stage one of the cache involves you finding a small tab-lock box inside which is the "special tool" to enable you to retrieve the log container. The final cache container at N54 54.284 W007 09.907 is a micro with only room for the log. The stages are only a few yards apart. It does involve being near or above deep water so again be careful and closely supervise any younger cachers.

When retrieving the cache only do so using the tool provided. Do not over-reach when doing so.

Please be careful with all the various parts of the cache and if anything goes astray please let me know straight away. You should consider only claiming a "found it" if you sign the log and you succeed in replacing all elements where you originally found them but it's up to you and your caching ethics!! Simple in theory but may be more of a challenge in practice. Indeed to paraphrase US President Herbet Hoover,

"Be patient and calm for no one can catch a 'cache' in anger".
