Geocache Description:


Pro Saldutiškį eina Vilniaus–Utenos geležinkelio linija (anksčiau Panevėžio–Švenčionėlių siaurasis geležinkelis). Iki XX a. devintojo dešimtmečio vidurio siaurojo geležinkelio vagonas, nukeltas nuo bėgių, buvo naudojamas kaip Saldutiškio geležinkelio stoties pastatas. Geležinkelio stotis oficialiai uždaryta 2003 m. rugsėjį.

OKUPACIJOS METAIS

Okupacijos metai miestelio gyventojams buvo skaudūs, per 1941m. birželio mėnesio trėmimus iš Saldutiškio geležinkelio stoties išvežti penki vagonai tremtinių, surinktų iš miestelio ir apylinkės kaimų. 1941 - 1942m. vokiečių naciai nužudė devynių Saldutiškio žydų šeimų narius, 1944 - 1945 sugrįžę bolševikai daugelyje vietų suruošė ramių gyventojų skerdynes, labai nukentėjo Krivasalio kaimas.
