The cache is not hidden on the sign for the "Lake Superior Water Trail - THE GREAT TRAIL" on Pennisula Harbour, Marathon, Ontario, but is hidden on the "Boat Launch" nearby

Welcome to the Lake Superior Water Trail

The Lake Superior Water Trail encircles the greatest expanse of freshwater in the world.  1,000 kms (600 miles) of this ancient route between White Fish Bay and Thunder Bay is part of The Great Trail (TGT), 24,000 km (15,000 mile) Trans Canada Trail connecting three oceans.  For thousands of years, people have been traversing these waters engaged in everything from local fishing and travel to continental trade and exploration.  Terraces, cobble stone beaches, brooding headlands, sweeping sand beaches and steep cliffs are all part of the Superior experience.  The bond that today's recreational paddlers have with all those that have come before is that this lake requires humble respect.  Cold waters and wind fetch across this vast expanse creating conditions that demand adequate skills and proper outfitting.   ** (from sign west of Cache Location)

Marathon Boat Launch - Big Sky, Shining Water

The expansive skies and the ever-changing patterns of sunlight, cloud and fog over Lake Superior issued a siren's call to lanscape painter Lawren Harris, a member of Canada's iconic Group of Seven.  Hiking and sketching in this area in the 1920's,  Harris was entranced by the scenes he professed, "existing nowhere else in Canada".  He returned year after year, inspired and rejuvenated by a "sense of oneness with the spirit of the land"

The Cache

The cache is a magnetic keycase near the base of the "Boat Launch" sign, a short distance to the east from the sign "Welcome to the Lake Superior Water Trail" which is near the new "Paddlers Boat Launch".
