Geocache Description:

What was to become Schodack Island State Park was first acquired by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in the 1970s, and was originally known as Castleton Island State Park. It remained undeveloped until the early 2000s. Schodack Island State Park was opened in 2002, and was initially a day-use only park. In 2016, 66 campsites were made available to the public.
