Atlasvlei Park was officially opened on 31 March 2017. A cash injection of over R2 million paved the way for the installation of playground equipment, park furniture, walkways, a bird hide, upgrading of bridges to wheelchair friendly and expanses of manicured lawns.
The construction of the storm water channel, phase two, is still underway.
Atlasvlei Park is a big park with a 'walkway' along a little river which stretches over 1.5 kilometers. It is frequented by runners, people just taking a stroll, birdwatchers, many bring their dogs for a walk, or even just to sit on one of the benches to look at the river flowing by.
The little river has divided up into 2 sections close by & formed a little island, but which is still accessible from all sides.
