Cache In, Trash Out

Cache In Trash Out, or CITO, is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources!

For the past 15 years, geocachers around the world have celebrated International Cache In Trash Out weekend annually by hosting and participating in Cache In Trash Out Events in their local area. Since 2016, the CITO celebration has been extended to two entire weeks. CITO Week Events can be focused on litter clean-up, removal of invasive species, revegetation efforts or building trails. Together, we make an enormous positive impact. Did I mention that we also have a bit of fun while we're at it?

The Event

The event will take place on Sunday 24th September 2017 from midday. The clean up will last for at least an hour. Please try to arrive on time to pick up your equipment and listen to instructions.

The coordinates given are for the car park near Europe's First (GC43). From here we will split in to teams to clean up the cliff walk and Bray Head area.

Directions

Cars can be parked free of charge at the Raheen Park car park. Please note that parking is at your own risk. Alternatively, you can park along Bray Promenade (also free on a Sunday).

If you don't have access to a car, you can take the DART to Bray and walk along the promenade to GZ (maximum 20 minute walk). The 145 bus will also leave you to Bray DART station.

What to Bring

  • Work or garden gloves (required)
  • A litter picker, if you have one
  • Hiking Boots/Wellingtons
  • Rainwear

This event is being organised in conjunction with Bray CoastCare and we will have litter pickers, gloves, bin bags and gardening tools provided by them. If you have your own litter pickers and gloves, please bring them along so we can ensure we have enough for everyone.
