Oakley CW 2 Ravensbourne Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BigT & lil'J: This cache had gone missing. After 3.5 years we have decided to archive this cache and the remainder of the series. The walk is not what it was - so much fencing and barbed wire now. Thanks to all those who visited the caches.

Geocache Description:

As you walk from CW1 you can see part of the Rookery Estate, once owned by the Norman family, to your right. For nearly two hundred years, the Norman family dominated the history of Bromley Common.  The family association with the area began in 1755 when James Norman, after making a fortune in the timber trade, moved to a house, known as the Rookery, adjacent to Bromley Common.  The Norman family preserved the grounds of the Rookery until the army took over the house during the Second World War.

The Rookery burned down in 1946 while still under military occupation, after which green-belt legislation prevented development and ensured that much of this area has remained open space.

After passing horse paddocks and cricket pitches you will soon enter Barnet Wood where there is a bridge over the River Ravensbourne.

You are looking for a small plastic screw top cache.
